Project: Enhancing Street Community

The community-based services in the CSI module for SABD are to expose students to the real-community living in real-life situation. The students are to work together as a team for architectural, culture, and environmental enhancing activities in the communities of different socio-economic status and social groups. The series of community services are offered under four (4) categories/themes and as student empowerment projects they are given the freedom to choose and to execute the project in the best possible manner (term and condition applied and must within the constraint of the project requirements). The detail of the categories is as described in the table below:

conduct SWOT analysis and identify problems before propose the solutions that are within the means of students’ knowledge, capacity and capabilities.

  • Using spatial design students are to look for the possibility of enhancing urban community experiences in the aspects of:

  • humanity values among city community, - environmental,

  • culture and/or - health or selfimprovement - knowledge - for e.g. propose community program for potential vacant land. etc.

  • Gives solution to other street problems (and the example of solutions) such as:

  • homeless people (underprivilegedfriendly street) ,

  • Extreme micro city climates (sustainable garden),

  • lost culture & values, - lack of valuable community spaces, provide opportunity to also collaborate with the Studio 5 Urban Design module.
