PROJECT 1 : REPRESENTING ME

Self-Expression through Object

In this assignment, we are required to create an abstract art form or mask that represents who we are or in that significance. The art form should not be literal to what you want to express but it has to represent a glimpse of what you want your viewers to know.

I've chosen the "stubborn-ness" in me to clearly represent my personality and characteristics. This is an attribute that not many people could picture from my everyday behaviour. Through stubborn-ness, I've done numerous research whereby what design form and material best represents stubborn or "hot headed". And I have to a conclusion where I've created an artwork which look like an bull's head which has spiky fragmented triangles made from rough sandpaper to merely emphasize the rough surface of a stubborn individual and the bull's head that represents the stubborn-ness and hot headed behaviours I have.

PROJECT 2 : LIFE CAPSULE

Self Expression through Architectural Space

We were to form a group of 5 and choose the client of our choice then design a life capsule that suits all of the client's needs and wants. This project emphasize the knowledge of anthopometry, ergonomics and human proportions, by enhancing the knowledge within these fields, we as an architecture student shall have no problem regarding to scale and ergonomics in the future. Aside from that, we were to create a conceptual life capsule and then build a full scale model based on the drawings and plans.

Through this project, we were exposed to the difficulty of building a full scale model using restricted materials. Besides, we've learn to come up with conceptual design and make use of design concepts and construction methods.

PROJECT 3 : HIDE OUT

For this task , we are required to form a group of 5 and watch a series of movies that may potray architectural essence or contains interesting architectures. With that in mind, we are required to choose a scene that contains an alley to be used as our site for our hideout.

The movie that we've chosen is "Upside Down" . The buildings in the movie were based on modern and contemporary concepts. Besides, the movie also potrays a very special concept which is defying the sense of gravity, it would be very interesting if architectures could defy gravity and it could broaden the possibilities in the architecture industry.

PROJECT 3B : HIDE OUT

For the second part of this project, we were to choose our own client from a list of provided client. With a chosen client of Michael Jackson, I have to design a hideout that could house Michael Jackson and fulfill all his needs and isolate him from the outside world. As this is our final project, we are required to implement what we've learnt from earlier projects such as abstractness, ergonomics & anthropometry and lastly human scale. With these requirements and guidelines, I have to further research about my client to further understand his likings, characteristics and such to ease the design process and to suit my client. Aside from that, the hideout should blend into the site and should be attached to either side of the building to further emphasize that it is a hideout.
